June 10: St. Petersburg day 2. Today was the history of Russia and we started with Catherine’s palace which was built in the early 1700’s. The palace was really big and had lots of gold. Catherine I was Peter the Great’s wife but she never lived there, her daughter Elizabeth had it built in her name. We went to Peter the Great's palace next, Peterhoff. Also lots of gold, but not as big but the park around it was huge and had lots of fountains and trick fountains. I think Catherine’s palace had more gold and guilted ceilings. All together it was too gold for me. Peter the Great united Russia the city is filled with statues of him. The last thing we did was go to the main Cathderal in city. There were two cats there, one inside the church, so we fed them. Then we went back to the ship. In the evening we watched the hobbit outside on deck. I liked the movie. The End.
