June 12: Today we are in Stockholm which is a city built on 14 islands and is the capitol of Sweden. We took a tour led by Sofia starting with the Vasa ship museum and on the way we saw some ducklings and a statue of the author of Pippi Longstockings. When we got into the Vasa museum, and saw the biggest boat I have seen, other than cruise boats. The Vasa ship sunk on its maiden voyage in 1628, it was top heavy because the King wanted it to have two floors of cannons even thought the ship builder said it wouldn't work. It was so well preserved because of the mud it sank into. We got to see some of the skeletons of the crew and how they got the boat out of the water and that the museum was filled with water to float the boat in there. Then we took a ferry across the lake to see the old town. In the old town, we learned that the richest people would pay the fire department money to put a symbol above their door so the fire men would put out the fire there first in case of a town fire. Then we went to the narrowest street in the city, which was pretty narrow and full of stairs. We also went to the city hall, and saw an amazing room of tiles where the Nobel prizes are given. Then we went back to the boat slowly and were on our way. Bye for today.
