Mt Etna |

March 11: Today was a long and tiring day. First we walked down about a thousand steps, but met some nice people who were staying in the same hotel as us. It took us along time but it was nice having company. When we got to the bottom we were all tired, and my legs were shaky. Then we went to the Greek theatre. (Taormina was founded by the Greeks around 400 BC. The theatre was built by the Greeks and later expanded by the Romans when they took over the area). The theatre was big and beautiful in the sun and had a nice view of Mt. Etna. The book I am reading for school, The Lightning Thief, is all about greek myths and Mt. Etna was just mentioned as the place the deadly monster Typhon was trapped by Zeus and where Hephaestus has his forges. It was so hot I went a little crazy and started to do shadow puppets. Then the thousand steps UP to the Hotel.

ReplyDeleteIs mount Etna active at the moment? We love the pictures you sent today. Your mom looks like she has a new hat.
