March 28: Today we went to Hadrian's villa and Villa d'Este, both near by the town of Tivoli. It was rainy in the morning so at the villas every thing was wet and miserable, but asides that it was kind cool. Hadrian was a very famous Roman emperor who we keep running into and his villa was enormous. We met a cat at Villa d'Este (Villa d'Este is a Renaissance palace built by a cardinal in 1550 that is filled with hundreds of fountains). Then for lunch a normal italian pizza and sandwich, and for dessert frozen yogurt. We drove home after that and were so happy until the time for home work came along.

  1. Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa were highlights on our trip many years ago. The hillside of these waterworks have been a creative influence for many landscape architects. I had used Emperor Hadrian's Villa concept as a valuable arch type for many architectural designs. Too bad it was so rainy.
