May 28: Isa took the day off travel to do homework while mum and dad explored the city and have been asked to write about it. We started the day with a walk to Rosenborg castle. Copenhagen was founded in 1254 and did not become an important centre until the rule of Christian IV who built this castle as part of a major expansion in the early 1600's. After the castle we went to the National Gallery and studied art then on to the botanical gardens before picking up tickets to the opera. Wagner's Tannhauser was done with a Scadinavian interpretation of mental illness and it was gripping but 4 hours is too long. Fantastic Opera house experience then a bite overlooking Tivoli gardens to round out the day.
